Came across a fantastic Interior Designer (p.64) called Axel Vervoordt, whose individual style has the principle of WABI SABI at it’s core:
WABI SABI – Concept derived from the teachings of Buddhist Monks encapsulating the ‘three marks of existence’, specifically impermanence, suffering and the absence of self-nature; IMPERFECT, IMPERMANENT & INCOMPLETE.
What are its characteristics? Simplicity, Modesty, Asymmetry, Intimacy, Natural, Rustic
‘There’s not enough forest any more to make everything new, new, new. We have to try and make new things out of what already exists’
How can one spot the style of Vervoordt? High-brow, cultural, and using lowly/natural materials – concrete, plaster and distressed surfaces.
He is a designer I will research.

If I had to choose my favourite 3? HARLEQUIN, SANDERSON & ZOFFANY. I am more of a traditionalist and love the fact that these 3 brands are so underpinned by the history of Design, never feeling old or dated.
The majority of these designs I would be happy to have within my own house. Which designs would you consider? Are you a traditionalist or a modernist?

This just screams ME!!! As a child, my Mum had always grown them in our garden, and have adored them ever since. They are one of the flowers that are synonymous with my magical childhood. I will make it my mission to build a portfolio of peony observational studies.
TREND ALERT!!!! JEWEL SHADES – Turquoise, Gold, Ochre, Ruby, Sapphire, which strangely enough I will be using within my own designs.
